ABOUT ME
My name is Ilke Boran. A French-Turkish musician based in Istanbul Turkey. I am currently teaching history of Western music and electronic music at the State Conservatory. I also often give lectures and seminars in different private universities.
Composing music became a passion since I was 14. Thus I set my path to be a musician and over the course of my studies in musicology I devoted myself to learning theory and composition.
Alongside my career of writing about and teaching the fascinating world of music, I also had the opportunity to write music for so many different occasions: theater, short film, advertising promotion trailers, jingles for radio, and music for art exhibitions.
With my musicological background and my expertise (PhD) on electronic music I had the absolute chance to blend and fuse different styles and colors in my music, the variety of which spans form classical and epic to contemporary, electronic and jazz.

TUTULMA (RETENTION)
Original composition for the short film 'Tutulma' (Retention) written and directed by Emine Akbucak.
2014 - 2020
SONIC IDENTITY
FOR SAINTE PULCHERIE
A long term project to create a sonic identity to be used in the promotional videos of Sainte Pulcherie High School. The project consist of rework, re-arrangement, instrumentation of Bach's works in different styles - from jazz to epic orchestral. Original compositions also take part of the project.

D'UN PONT A L'AUTRE
(FROM BRIDGE TO BRIDGE)
Original conceptual electronic music composition for the international photography exhibition in Istanbul, by the artists Tristan Zilberman and Emine Akbucak. The music has been played in the venue throughout the exhibition.

Original music composition for the theatrical drama of Nazım Hikmet, based on the epic love story of Ferhat and Sirin.

Original abstract electronic composition for the exhibition in Istanbul by the famous sculptor Seçkin Pirim. The music has been played in the exhibition venue throughout the exhibition.

Original music composition for the theatrical play Sevdalı Bulut (Amorous Cloud) adapted from Nazım Hikmet's story book. A project realized with 'Istanbul Shadow Performers'
